Quad Lock System: Secure iPhone Mounting Anywhere

The introduction of new mounting solutions for devices like the iPhone and iPad is fairly common, but a recent innovation from Australia has sparked interest due to its affordability and sleek design. The Quad Lock mounting system, priced at $69.95 for the Deluxe Kit, successfully launched on Kickstarter with more than double its funding goal and is now available for purchase.

The system starts with a simple case, currently available for the iPhone 4/4S, with plans to expand to the iPad 2/3. The basic package, which includes the case and two wall mounts, is offered at $39.95.

The case features a built-in Quad Lock connector on its back.

The wall mounts connect to this back connector, allowing the device to be securely attached or quickly removed with a twist. These mounts come with both an adhesive pad and a screw hole, making them versatile for vehicle or indoor mounting.

The Deluxe Kit adds a bicycle mount, which attaches to handlebars or bike frames using either rubber O-rings for temporary setup or wire ties for a more permanent installation. This flexibility is ideal for cyclists who use multiple bikes.

Future accessories for the Quad Lock system include a $19.95 protective “Poncho” cover for cycling, a $19.95 tripod adapter, and a $14.95 universal adapter that can attach to other devices or cases.

This universal adapter is particularly appealing to me as it would allow me to use the Quad Lock bike mount with my current iPhone case, a mophie juice pack air.

What sets the Quad Lock apart from other systems is its minimalistic design. The mounts are small, protruding only about 9/16″ and measuring just under 1.5″ in diameter. The system’s affordability and modular nature make it an attractive option for tech enthusiasts.

While the basic case might seem plain, the potential to integrate it with robust cases like those from LifeProof or OtterBox, especially for rugged activities like mountain biking, is a compelling feature.

To avoid bias in testing, I have not permanently installed any of the wall mounts, allowing a TUAW reader to fully experience a brand-new Quad Lock deluxe kit.
