Mac Pro Deck by Hive73: Optimize and Organize Your Workspace

The Mac Pro, Apple’s technological marvel, often seems neglected by accessory makers. However, Hive73, based in Albuquerque, NM, has introduced an innovative solution to keep your Mac Pro company. Their new product, the Mac Pro Deck, priced at US$173.00, is a sleek all-aluminum desktop shelf designed to organize your peripherals and enhance your workspace.

  • Dimensions (Studio Edition): 14.25 x 9.5 x 9.5 inches (362 x 241.3 x 241.3 mm)
  • Weight: 9.2 lbs (4.17 kg)
  • Materials: 5000 series aluminum, steel tubing for headphone hanger

The Mac Pro Deck Studio Edition is crafted to complement your desktop setup alongside your Mac Pro.

Constructed from robust sheet aluminum, it features an adjustable shelf secured by four steel alloy bolts, ensuring stability and versatility. The design includes a side cutout that perfectly fits the Mac Pro’s contour, allowing for a seamless integration.

The adjustable shelf can be configured in six different positions, offering a variety of storage solutions. Additionally, the top surface is coated with a thin, non-slip rubber material to keep devices like your iPhone or iPad securely in place.

Despite its compact footprint of 126 square inches on your desk, the Mac Pro Deck effectively triples your available storage space when fully utilized.

An additional feature is the headphone rack, constructed from 1/4-inch steel tubing, which attaches to the side of the Deck, providing a convenient storage option for your headphones.

Hive73 is also preparing to launch a 19-inch wide version known as the Producer Edition, which will accommodate rack-mountable accessories, offering even more versatility for audio professionals.

During my evaluation, I used the Mac Pro Deck to organize a typically cluttered desk.

Although I don’t own a Mac Pro, I found the Deck to be an excellent “dock” for my MacBook Pro. It provided easy access to my headphones and kept my DSLR within reach for quick product photography.

The dimensions of the Deck align nearly perfectly with a 13-inch MacBook Pro, which was a pleasant surprise. Installing the headphone hanger was straightforward, requiring only the appropriate hex wrench.

There are a couple of minor issues: I would have preferred if the non-slip material was also applied to the bottom of the Deck to prevent sliding on smooth surfaces.
