CalDigit Unveils New Thunderbolt Station 2 Docking Hub

Renowned for their high-speed storage solutions, CalDigit has recently unveiled the CalDigit Thunderbolt Station 2, priced at $199.99 with a pre-order special of $169.99. This new docking station enhances the connectivity options compared to the Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD we looked at earlier.

Typical Thunderbolt 2 docks include three USB 3.0 ports, audio input/output, dual Thunderbolt 2 ports, an HDMI slot, and a LAN port.

The CalDigit version distinguishes itself by adding two 6 Gb/second eSATA ports, catering to Mac users with existing eSATA devices.

Additionally, the CalDigit Thunderbolt Station 2 offers versatile positioning with both vertical and horizontal setups, provides a warranty twice as long as its competitors from Belkin and Elgato, and is priced $100 below the Belkin’s retail price. Note, however, that it does not come with the necessary Thunderbolt cable for connection to your Mac.

For Mac enthusiasts with a variety of high-speed peripherals, the CalDigit Thunderbolt Station 2 is worth considering.

With a $30 discount on pre-orders available until January 15, 2015, it presents an attractive opportunity for an upgrade.
