Repurposing is the process of turning an old, unused device into something new. Aside from giving them a second chance, you can save money with a little tweak and technical know-how. Here are five ideas to get you started.
Retro Arcade Machine
Add a form of video game entertainment in your Promenade Peak condo by turning a laptop into a retro arcade machine. Download a free emulator and some games, then plug in a USB controller or two. These retro arcade emulators can run even on laptops that are more than ten years old.

Smart Home Hub
An old tablet can be repurposed into a smart home hub. If you have one that’s collecting dust then it’s the perfect device. Plug it into a power source, then download the latest voice command apps. From there, you can issue commands like a smart hub would and control all your smart appliances and lights.
Radio or TV Station
Add some background noise or chatter into the kitchen with a makeshift TV or radio. Any kind of small device will do- an old smartphone or similar will suffice. Depending on the operating system you can open Play Store or App Store and find a suitable app, then download and run it.
Digital Photo Frame
An old device with a large enough screen can act as a digital photo frame. If you have an old TV or monitor, simply plug in a smart dongle that runs Google or Apple. From there, download a photo album app and tweak the settings so you can see your favorite photos and memories throughout the day.
CCTV
Lastly, a smartphone can act as a CCTV monitor or surveillance system. Instead of having to open the app every time you want to see who’s on the front door, just glance at the old smartphone and watch the feed.
