How to Clean Your Laptop

How to Clean Your Laptop

Electronics are a dust magnet regardless of whether you’re in the office or your home at Boulevard Coast, and laptops are no exception. You may have noticed your trusty work or gaming laptop has a fine layer of dust, which means you’ll need to spend a few minutes cleaning it. Rather than use special (and expensive) solutions, try these five methods instead.

Mini Vacuum

A mini vacuum works similarly to the vacuum you use at home to pick up dust and dirt from floors. It’s great for picking up dust and particles that are unreachable, such as in between the keys and buttons. Use it for your other electronics too (like your monitor or smart TV).

How to Clean Your Laptop

Brush

Soft and medium brushes can clean just as effectively as a mini vacuum and have their own merits as well. You can get a small brush at a local art shop or bookstore. Cleaning your laptop with a brush is easy- just move the brush along the keyboard and surfaces to take away the unwanted particles.

Microfiber Cloth

Microfiber cloths are recommended for screens and surfaces that you don’t want a scratch on. These materials pick up dust efficiently, and you don’t have to make an effort to get your monitor done. Instead of tissue or wipes, opt for a microfiber cloth. They’re pretty affordable, too.

For the Screen

Your laptop screen and trackpad are sensitive to scratches. For this reason, using alcohol and other strong cleaning solutions is not recommended. You can use water, but the general rule is that the cloth should be damp and not overly wet.

Don’t Forget the Air Vents

Laptops can heat up, especially when you’re running intensive apps and games. Don’t forget to clean the air vents using a small brush or a mini vacuum. Do this every two weeks or so to extend its lifespan.
