Apple’s iPhone Fold Set for 2026 Launch to Dominate Market

Apple is reportedly planning to release its first foldable iPhone, dubbed the iPhone Fold, in late 2026. While Apple enters the foldable market years after rivals like Samsung, analysts believe the device could still dominate thanks to premium design and integrated software features.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman states that Apple will not break new technological ground. Instead, the company will refine existing ideas and address key weaknesses in current foldable devices, such as visible screen creases. The iPhone Fold is expected to feature an advanced hinge mechanism and a durable inner display.

What to Expect from the iPhone Fold

Rumors suggest the device will include a 7.8-inch internal display paired with a 5.5-inch outer screen. When unfolded, the phone could be as thin as 4.5 mm, making it one of Apple’s sleekest designs yet. Folded, it may measure around 9 mm thick.

The iPhone Fold will likely run iOS 27, which is rumored to include features tailored for foldable screens. These enhancements could improve multitasking and user experience, making the phone more than just a hardware upgrade.

Why the Delay Might Not Matter

Apple’s strategy of entering late but delivering a polished product has worked before. The Vision Pro headset followed this approach, arriving after competitors but offering a distinctive design. Experts believe the foldable iPhone could follow the same trajectory, especially given strong demand for foldable devices in markets like China.

The device is expected to cost at least $2,000, positioning it as a luxury product in Apple’s lineup. Production is anticipated to start in late 2025.
