Apple has launched the first public beta versions of its upcoming operating systems, including iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26. This marks the first time non-developers can test the next generation of Apple software before its official release later this year.

Until now, these early builds were available only to developers. Public betas offer a more stable experience, though Apple still warns that bugs and performance issues may occur.

How to Join the Beta Program

Anyone with an Apple ID can enroll through the Apple Beta Software Program at beta.apple.com. After signing in, users can download the beta profiles and install them on their devices. Apple recommends using secondary devices, as beta software can cause unexpected issues and even data loss.

Participants should always back up their devices before installing any beta update.

What’s Included in the Public Betas?

The public betas include most of the features shown at WWDC 2025, offering users a chance to try Apple’s latest updates early. While the builds are generally close to developer versions, they may lag by one or two cycles.

Apple also released beta firmware for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, allowing testers to experience new audio features ahead of the official launch.

Important Warnings

Apple strongly advises against installing these test builds on primary devices. Early beta releases often contain bugs that can impact daily use. For the safest experience, users should test on non-essential hardware and maintain updated backups.

The final versions of these operating systems are expected to roll out later in 2025.
