Apple’s popular Shadyside store in Pittsburgh is preparing to open in a new and expanded location on August 9, 2025. While the move only spans about 200 feet, the change marks a big upgrade for the long-standing retailer.
A Bigger and Better Space
Since 2004, Apple Shadyside has served customers at 5508 Walnut Street. Located in a well-known shopping and dining district, the store has been a staple for local Apple users. But now, the tech giant is moving the store to 5436 Walnut Street, into a much larger space formerly occupied by The Gap.

The new store will officially open its doors on Saturday, August 9, at 10:00 AM.
Modern Design and Features
The upgraded location will span two floors and is expected to reflect Apple’s latest retail design, which first appeared in the Tysons Corner location. This modern layout includes a warm, wood-heavy interior instead of the brand’s older stainless-steel look.
Shoppers can also expect updated amenities such as an Apple Pickup station for online orders and a Genius Bar designed with accessibility in mind.
More Than Just a Move
Though the relocation is short in distance, it represents Apple’s commitment to enhancing the customer experience in Shadyside. The added space and improved layout aim to better support the growing demand in the area.
Apple fans and curious shoppers alike are encouraged to visit the new space and explore the fresh setup on opening day.
Apple Shadyside’s move is more than just a new address. It’s a strategic step toward providing a more inviting, spacious, and user-friendly environment—something the brand continues to prioritize across its global retail network.
