iOS 26 Beta 5 Adds Camera, Mail Updates & Watch Leak

Apple has launched the fifth developer beta of iOS 26, bringing with it subtle but notable changes. Alongside app updates and refreshed icons, developers spotted a reference to a possible new Apple Watch Ultra. A display resolution of 422 by 514 pixels appears in the update—larger than the Ultra 2’s current 410 by 502 resolution. If Apple keeps the same screen size, this could mean thinner bezels. Alternatively, the Ultra 3 might see a small size increase to accommodate the pixel boost.

Useful Changes to Camera and Mail Apps

One of the most user-facing changes includes the return of a toggle called Classic Mode Switching in the Camera settings. This allows users to go back to the familiar swipe-style mode selector used in iOS 18, instead of the loupe-style introduced in iOS 26. The Mail app now shows the Select button at the top left of the screen again and offers a new toggle for customizing swipe gestures.

Updated UI and System Animations

The beta also brings slight tweaks to iOS’s dynamic “Liquid Glass” design. Animations are now more fluid, and icons, such as AirDrop, better match the updated visual theme. Apple also added new splash screens for apps like Apple Music, Notes, and Journal. While these changes are minor, they enhance the overall user experience.

What’s Next?

Though not groundbreaking, iOS 26 beta 5 adds polish to Apple’s next major update. As Apple continues releasing new betas every few weeks, more features and design refinements are expected before the final release.
