Apple continues to expand the production of its devices in India and it has now hit a major milestone with $9 billion in sales in the country for the financial year 2024 – 25. It is important to note that this is amid all the ongoing trade tensions. The US President Donald Trump on several occasions spoke out against the production of Apple products in India. However, private companies run on profit and not government directions, but do have to play well with the government in power to ensure business is not hit by unnecessary red-tapes.
Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, has taken the approach of ensuring that it maintains a friendly relationship with the US government, especially the US President Donald Trump. The Trump administration has been very volatile in terms of global trade with its global tariffs.

iPhone rules, MacBook continues to grow steadily
The news agency Bloomberg reported the sales milestone of the iPhone maker earlier this week, further adding that the company continues to expand its stores in the country. The report added that the company marked a 13% jump in sales compared to the previous financial year. While the iPhone accounted for the major portion of the revenue, the market saw a rise in demand for MacBooks.

In the recent few years, Mac computers have become far more common compared to the adoption of Windows. While Windows still rules in terms of numbers and market share, the adoption of the Mac platform has seen a steady rise since the introduction of Apple Silicon Macs during the covid pandemic.
In comparison, Apple in China saw a 4.4% increase in revenue – a first positive growth trajectory in two years, having seen local players take the large segments of the smartphone market share. As a result, Apple has been bullish on the Indian market, eyeing it as the next major market for growth in terms of sales and production due to slowdown in China sales and Trump tariffs on China respectively.
