Apple has officially released macOS Tahoe, bringing a sleek redesign and practical features to the Mac lineup. The most striking update is the new Liquid Glass interface, which gives apps, menus, and Dock icons a fluid, translucent look. This design aims to reduce distractions and keep users focused on their work.
The update also introduces subtle refraction effects when moving windows or controls, adding a dynamic, glass-like feel. While early testers noted occasional readability issues, Apple has improved the feature significantly through beta updates.

Spotlight Gets Smarter
Spotlight search has received one of its most notable upgrades in years. It now includes clipboard history, a long-requested feature that allows users to copy multiple items and retrieve them later. However, unlike third-party managers, macOS only keeps clipboard data for eight hours.
Another major addition is Quick Actions. Users can assign shortcuts for common tasks, such as typing “ST” to start a timer, making Spotlight a stronger competitor to tools like Alfred and Raycast.
Borrowing from iPhone Features
macOS Tahoe also integrates more iPhone-inspired tools. For the first time, Macs include a dedicated Phone app, letting users place and answer calls directly, as long as their iPhone is nearby. Although some bugs affected call quality during testing, the feature could reduce the need to pick up an iPhone while working.
Additionally, Live Activities now appear in the Mac’s menu bar, displaying real-time updates for things like deliveries or ride-sharing apps. This change gives users quicker access to useful information without switching devices.
A Worthwhile Upgrade
While the Liquid Glass design stands out, features like clipboard history, Quick Actions, and the Phone app deliver real day-to-day value. Apple recommends updating soon but advises waiting a short while to allow developers to iron out early compatibility issues.
macOS Tahoe is more than just a visual refresh—it represents Apple’s ongoing effort to merge style with practical improvements.
