Ben Stiller is stepping back into acting with The Off Weeks, a new Apple TV+ drama. Best known recently for directing the award-winning series Severance, Stiller now takes on the lead role of Gus Adler, a divorced father navigating shared custody and the complications of a new romance.

The Storyline

The series follows Gus through his alternating weeks of custody. During his “on weeks,” he juggles parenting duties and the struggle to keep his life steady. In contrast, his “off weeks” pull him into a passionate relationship with Stella West, played by Jessica Chastain. Stella’s mysterious arrival pushes Gus into a dangerous conflict between love and responsibility.

Director Michael Showalter leads the project, while Alissa Nutting serves as showrunner. Their creative vision aims to blend emotional depth with psychological suspense.

Apple TV+’s Winning Streak

Apple TV+ continues to build a strong lineup of dramas. The Morning Show just earned a fifth-season renewal, and Severance brought home multiple Emmy wins. Apple reports that its productions have collected 622 awards and more than 2,800 nominations.

Stiller’s return to acting strengthens Apple TV+’s catalog even further. Alongside The Off Weeks, he also appears in Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost, a documentary about his parents.

What Comes Next

Apple has not revealed a release date yet, but anticipation already surrounds the project. With Stiller and Chastain leading the cast and a proven creative team behind them, The Off Weeks could become one of Apple TV+’s most compelling shows in the years ahead.
