Apple TV+ is expanding its drama catalog with The Last Frontier, a 10-episode survival thriller starring Jason Clarke. The series premieres worldwide on October 10, 2025, with two episodes dropping on launch day, followed by weekly releases until December 5.
The story follows Frank Remnick, a U.S. marshal stationed in Alaska’s rugged wilderness. His routine life shatters when a prison transport plane crashes nearby, releasing dozens of dangerous convicts. As chaos spreads, Remnick realizes the crash was not an accident but part of a larger, more sinister plot.

Star Power and Creative Team
Clarke leads an ensemble cast that includes Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum, and veteran actor Alfre Woodard, whose career spans Oscar nominations and multiple Emmy wins.
Behind the scenes, the show is created by Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, with Clarke also serving as an executive producer. Sam Hargrave, known for Netflix’s Extraction, directs several episodes, promising high-intensity action sequences.
Apple TV+’s Strategy for Originals
Since its 2019 debut, Apple TV+ has focused heavily on original content rather than licensing shows. That gamble has paid off, earning the platform 622 awards and more than 2,800 nominations. Landmark wins include CODA, which made Apple the first streamer to take home the Academy Award for Best Picture.
With comedies like Ted Lasso and dramas like Severance boosting its reputation, Apple now turns to high-stakes survival thrillers to broaden its appeal. The Last Frontier aims to deliver both spectacle and layered storytelling.
Global Access
The series will stream in over 100 countries on more than a billion devices. Viewers can watch via the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, Apple TV hardware, and smart TVs from major brands. Game consoles like PlayStation and Xbox also support streaming. Subscriptions cost $12.99 per month, with a free seven-day trial available. Customers who activate a new Apple device get three months free.
