Apple has officially launched the M5 iPad Pro, introducing its most advanced tablet yet. The new model features Apple’s latest M5 chip, Wi-Fi 7 support, and the C1X modem for faster connectivity, starting at $999 for the 11-inch model.

While the design remains similar to last year’s M4 model, the performance leap is remarkable. The 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU deliver up to 3.5 times faster Apple Intelligence tasks, fueled by neural accelerators derived from the A19 chip. These improvements also boost AI-driven features like real-time image generation, video editing, and 3D rendering.

Enhanced AI and Graphics Performance

The M5 chip offers up to 6.7x faster 3D rendering in Octane X compared to the M1 model, and 1.5x faster than the M4. Video transcode speeds in Final Cut Pro are up to 6x faster than the M1 and 1.2x faster than the M4. AI-focused tasks such as image generation and video upscaling have also seen dramatic gains, making the M5 iPad Pro ideal for creative professionals and AI enthusiasts alike.

Apple also doubled the storage read and write speeds and increased base memory to 12GB for 256GB and 512GB models. The tablet retains the stunning Ultra Retina XDR display in 11-inch and 13-inch options, offering 1,600 nits peak brightness and support for ProMotion and Apple Pencil Hover.

Smarter Connectivity and Camera Upgrades

The cellular models now include Apple’s C1X modem, which promises up to 50% faster data speeds and 30% better power efficiency. The new N1 chip brings Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support, future-proofing the device for smart connectivity.

The 12MP rear camera remains, offering 4K 60fps video, ProRes recording, and 240fps slo-mo—ensuring high-quality content creation on the go.

Pricing and Availability

Preorders are now open, with availability starting October 22. The 11-inch Wi-Fi model begins at $999, while the 13-inch version starts at $1,299. A Nano-texture glass option is available for an extra $100, providing a matte finish for glare reduction.

With its blend of power, precision, and speed, the M5 iPad Pro stands as Apple’s most capable tablet to date—one that redefines what professionals can expect from mobile computing.
