Steve Jobs, Apple’s visionary co-founder, will appear on a new 2026 American Innovation $1 coin representing California. The U.S. Mint announced that the design will highlight Jobs’ legacy as one of America’s most influential innovators.
The coin shows Jobs standing before oak-covered hills, a nod to California’s landscape. It includes the inscriptions “Steve Jobs” and “Make Something Wonderful,” his well-known phrase that inspired generations of creators. Artist Elana Hagler designed the coin, and sculptor Phebe Hemphill brought it to life.
A Tribute to Innovation and Perseverance
The American Innovation series, which began in 2018, celebrates individuals and inventions that shaped the United States. Each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories receives a unique coin.
California’s choice of Steve Jobs feels fitting. He started Apple in his family garage, built it into a tech empire, and reshaped how the world communicates. Jobs’ story reflects the American dream—bold ideas, persistence, and creativity turned into lasting impact.
Coin Release and Pricing
The 2026 collection will also include coins for Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The Steve Jobs coin will be available directly from the U.S. Mint’s website. Collectors can purchase a 25-coin roll for $36.25 or a four-coin set for about $30.
This initiative continues the Mint’s mission to honor innovators who have shaped America’s identity through technology, science, and creativity.
