CHP Recovers $200K in Stolen Apple Products

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) recovered over $200,000 worth of stolen Apple products during a traffic stop in Los Angeles. Officers acted after receiving a tip about a white cargo van tied to a Nevada burglary.

The suspects reportedly broke into a commercial truck at a Nevada rest stop before fleeing with Apple electronics. With help from a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter, CHP tracked the van on Interstate 5 near Western Avenue. After pulling it over, officers found boxes of Apple products stacked inside.

Two suspects were arrested at the scene. Authorities said the stolen goods were first loaded in Arizona, transported through Nevada, and then driven into California for resale.

CHP Expands Crackdown on Cargo Theft

CHP Southern Division Chief Chris Margaris said the department is intensifying efforts to stop cargo and retail thefts. “We work closely with law enforcement agencies across the country to protect California’s businesses and consumers,” he said.

Investigators are now examining whether the suspects are part of a larger theft network targeting tech shipments. CHP officers continue to work with regional task forces to identify other stolen electronics connected to the case.

This case adds to the growing trend of Apple-related crimes worldwide. In India, police recently arrested suspects who stole iPhones to “impress a girlfriend.” In the U.S., Apple AirTags have been used both to recover stolen property and, controversially, to stalk victims.

CHP reminded transport companies and retailers to stay alert and report any suspicious activity. The department also encouraged shippers to use secure facilities and GPS tracking for high-value deliveries.

The successful recovery reinforces CHP’s commitment to tackling organized retail theft through swift coordination and advanced tracking tools.
