Google has introduced a faster, smarter way to search with the new AI Mode button in Chrome for iPhone and iPad. Rolled out on November 5, 2025, the feature appears on the browser’s New Tab page, allowing users to access Google’s advanced AI search directly without digging through menus.
The update mirrors the desktop version of AI Mode but is optimized for mobile use. With just a tap, users can start asking multi-layered questions and follow up naturally — no need to restart searches or refine queries manually. Google says this change makes browsing more intuitive and conversational.

How AI Mode Transforms the Search Experience
AI Mode goes beyond simple keyword searches. It understands complex prompts, produces summaries, and offers related links — all within a single conversation thread. Users can build on earlier questions, refine details, or explore new angles without losing context.
During testing on the iPad, the AI Mode button launched a clean, chat-like interface that handled follow-ups smoothly. The system retained previous prompts and delivered responses in a conversational style, turning each tab into a mini research hub.
Google also confirmed plans to expand AI Mode to 160 countries, including language support for Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese.
Privacy Questions Remain
While AI Mode enhances productivity, privacy remains a concern. Google insists it keeps user data secure, but critics note the company’s history of data collection tied to product design. Adjusting privacy settings helps limit tracking, yet doing so often weakens personalized experiences.
The new feature blurs the line between browser and assistant, redefining how people discover and process information. For students, journalists, and researchers, Chrome’s AI Mode could be a powerful tool — provided they’re comfortable with Google’s data ecosystem.
