Apple has added a new way to make digital payments feel more expressive. Starting December 10, Apple began rolling out an Apple Pay–inspired sticker pack for Apple Cash inside iMessage, giving users animated visuals to pair with money transfers. Instead of a standard payment prompt, users can now send colorful stickers when asking for or sending money.
Notably, Apple delivered this update through a server-side switch. As a result, users did not need to download a new iOS update to access the feature.

How the New Apple Cash Stickers Work
The new stickers appear directly inside the iMessage interface. To access them, users open a conversation, tap the “+” button, select Stickers, and swipe until the Apple Cash pack appears. The designs use emoji-style reactions linked to money, such as payment requests or confirmations.
Moreover, each sticker features an iridescent animation. This glossy effect mirrors the look of Apple Pay cards inside Apple Wallet, but scaled down for chat conversations.
No Downloads, No Disruptions
Importantly, Apple designed the feature to work without changing how Apple Cash functions. Sending and receiving money works exactly the same as before. The stickers simply add visual flair for users who want it. Additionally, users can ignore or hide the sticker pack entirely if they prefer a cleaner interface.
Because the pack arrives by default, users do not need to visit the Sticker App Store. It sits alongside other system sticker packs and works across standard iMessage chats.
A Growing Focus on Expressive Messaging
Apple has steadily expanded its use of stickers across iOS. In the past, the company introduced sticker packs tied to Apple Fitness and the Developer app, along with classic Mac-themed designs. Therefore, the Apple Cash stickers continue a broader push to make Messages more expressive and interactive.
For now, Apple keeps the feature simple. However, the update hints at future possibilities, such as customizable payment requests or richer Apple Cash interactions. As digital payments become more social, Apple clearly wants them to feel more human, friendly, and fun.
