Apple may dramatically change the look of the iPhone 18 Pro. According to a recent leak, the Dynamic Island could become much smaller and move away from its current center position. The claim comes from Jon Prosser, a well-known leaker who is currently involved in a legal dispute with Apple. While the rumor is unconfirmed, it has sparked strong interest across the tech community.
Prosser suggests Apple will move the front-facing camera to the top-left corner of the display. As a result, the Dynamic Island would also shift to that corner. This change could create a cleaner and less distracting screen layout.
Under-Display Face ID Drives the Change
One major reason behind the rumored redesign is under-display Face ID. If Apple hides most Face ID sensors beneath the screen, the phone would need fewer visible cutouts. Consequently, the Dynamic Island would only need to surround a single camera hole.
In renders shared by Prosser, the Dynamic Island appears as a small black circle around the camera. When expanded, notifications would stretch toward the right side of the screen. This layout avoids covering the camera and keeps content easy to view.
What This Means for Everyday Use
If true, the redesign could improve how users interact with their iPhones. A smaller Dynamic Island would leave more usable screen space. Moreover, moving it to the corner may feel more natural, similar to how status icons already sit near screen edges.
However, experts urge caution. Apple often tests many designs that never reach consumers. Also, under-display Face ID has faced delays before. Some reports suggest Apple may not perfect the technology until 2027.
The Leaker’s Track Record Matters
Prosser has a mixed history with Apple leaks. He correctly shared early looks at Apple’s Liquid Glass-style interface. However, he has also missed the mark on hardware designs, including a past Mac mini prediction.
Apple has sued Prosser and a colleague for allegedly misusing confidential information. That legal case adds another layer of uncertainty. Still, it also suggests he once had access to real sources inside Apple.
For now, the rumored Dynamic Island redesign remains possible, not guaranteed. Until Apple officially reveals the iPhone 18 Pro, these claims should be viewed as informed speculation rather than confirmed plans.
