Apple TV added three new victories to its growing awards history at the 78th Annual Directors’ Guild Awards. The ceremony took place in Beverly Hills on February 7, 2026. These wins highlight Apple’s steady rise in prestige television and creative advertising.
Although Apple has collected many nominations over the years, major wins have remained rare. However, this year marked a turning point. The company doubled its previous total of Directors’ Guild victories in a single night.

Comedy and Documentary Take Center Stage
Apple secured a comedy win for The Studio. Directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg earned the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Comedy Series. Their episode, titled The Oner, impressed voters with sharp pacing and bold storytelling.
During their acceptance speech, the pair honored the late Catherine O’Hara. Rogen described her as a lifelong idol, while Goldberg credited her influence on their creative careers. Their tribute added an emotional moment to the evening.
Meanwhile, Apple also claimed the documentary category. Rebecca Miller won Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary Series/News for an episode of Mr. Scorsese. The winning installment, All This Filming Isn’t Healthy, drew praise for its honesty and inventive style.
Advertising Excellence Adds Another Win
Apple’s third victory came from advertising. Director Kim Gehrig won Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials for I’m Not Remarkable. This award marked her third win from four nominations, reinforcing her strong partnership with Apple.
Gehrig previously earned recognition for Apple campaigns in 2022. Therefore, her continued success reflects Apple’s focus on cinematic advertising that blends emotion with brand storytelling.
A Competitive Night for Television
Not every Apple nominee walked away with a trophy. Ben Stiller received a nomination for Severance in the drama category. However, Amanda Marsalis won for The Pitt. Even so, Apple’s multiple wins signaled growing influence in the directors’ community.
Apple TV continues to invest heavily in creative talent. As a result, its recognition now stretches beyond streaming popularity into industry leadership. These awards suggest Apple’s strategy focuses not only on quantity, but also on directing excellence.
