Apple has released the third round of developer beta updates for several of its operating systems. However, one key update is noticeably missing. The latest testing builds include iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, watchOS 26.4, tvOS 26.4, and visionOS 26.4, but macOS Tahoe 26.4 did not appear alongside them.
This unexpected absence has caught the attention of developers who closely track Apple’s beta rollout schedule. Usually, Apple releases beta versions for its operating systems together. Therefore, many expected macOS Tahoe 26.4 to arrive at the same time as the others.
Third Beta Arrives After February Updates
Apple began testing the 26.4 software cycle in mid-February. The first developer beta launched on February 16, followed by the second build on February 23. The third round now continues the testing process for most platforms.
Developers can currently access updated builds across Apple’s ecosystem. For example, the new builds include updated versions for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Apple Vision devices. Each update carries a new internal build number and replaces the previous beta version.
Despite this progress, macOS developers must wait longer. Apple has not yet provided the third beta build for macOS Tahoe 26.4.
Possible Delay for macOS Tahoe 26.4
Although the update did not appear with the latest batch, it may still arrive soon. Apple sometimes releases certain beta builds later in the week due to testing or development adjustments.
For now, developers continue working with earlier macOS Tahoe beta versions. Meanwhile, Apple may finalize additional fixes before releasing the next macOS build.
What the Latest Betas Include
The 26.4 beta cycle introduces several notable improvements across Apple platforms. Early builds already included updates to apps such as Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. Apple also added features like end-to-end encryption support for RCS messaging and improvements to Stolen Device Protection activation.
However, Apple reminds users that beta software can contain bugs or unfinished features. Because of this, the company strongly advises developers not to install these versions on primary devices.
Instead, testers should use secondary hardware and keep reliable backups of their data. Later in the testing cycle, Apple usually releases public beta versions that offer a more stable experience for non-developers.
Waiting for the macOS Update
For now, the absence of macOS Tahoe 26.4 remains the only gap in Apple’s latest developer beta rollout. Still, the update could appear shortly if Apple completes its internal testing.
Until then, developers will continue exploring the newest features across Apple’s other platforms while waiting for macOS to join the current beta cycle.
