Apple may be preparing a stronger push for its artificial intelligence-powered Genmoji feature in iOS 27. A new report suggests the company plans to surface Genmoji suggestions directly within the keyboard, making the tool far more visible during everyday typing.
The reported change would make Genmoji behave more like standard emoji suggestions already familiar to iPhone users. However, Apple may go further by generating suggestions based on commonly typed phrases and even images stored in the Photos app.

That could make Apple’s custom emoji system much harder to ignore.
Apple Intelligence Still Seeks Wider Appeal
Apple introduced Genmoji as part of its Apple Intelligence strategy, allowing users to create personalised emoji-like images using prompts. Yet broader public excitement around Apple’s AI tools has remained mixed.
Now, Apple appears ready to solve that problem by making Genmoji more proactive rather than waiting for users to discover it themselves.
Instead of manually creating custom graphics, users may receive instant suggestions while typing. Therefore, the feature could become part of daily messaging habits rather than a novelty tool.
Photos Could Personalise Suggestions
One of the most notable reported upgrades involves photo-based content awareness. The system may use images saved in Photos to help generate more relevant Genmoji suggestions.
That would make the experience more personalised, though some users may raise privacy questions about deeper AI integration with personal media libraries.
Not everyone will need to use the feature, however. Reports indicate Apple may include a toggle that allows users to disable Suggested Genmoji entirely.
Evolution of Apple’s Emoji AI
Apple has steadily improved Genmoji since launch. In iOS 26, users gained more control over facial expressions, physical traits, and visual customisation options. Image quality and response accuracy also improved.
The feature even expanded into Tapback reactions, showing Apple’s intention to weave it deeper into communication tools.
WWDC 2026 Could Reveal the Full Plan
Apple is expected to officially unveil iOS 27 during WWDC 2026 in June. That event will likely confirm whether Suggested Genmoji becomes a headline feature.
If accurate, the update shows Apple shifting from simply offering AI tools to actively encouraging people to use them.
