Season 4 Breaks an Apple TV Record

The Season 4 premiere attracted 296.6 million U.S. viewing minutes across August 4 and 5. The figures come from Nielsen data referenced in the attached report.

Moreover, the show reached another milestone on August 5. It became the most-streamed program in the United States that day, recording more than 200 million viewing minutes.

As a result, Season 4 now stands as Apple TV’s biggest series launch so far. The achievement also reinforces Ted Lasso’s position as one of the platform’s defining original shows.

Ted Returns to Richmond With a New Challenge

This season gives Ted a different mission at Richmond. He returns to coach a second-division women’s football team, creating a fresh direction for the familiar character.

However, the challenge goes beyond winning matches. Ted and his team must take risks and face situations they never expected. Therefore, the new setup gives the series room to explore its familiar themes through a different sporting journey.

Could Ted Lasso Continue Beyond Season 4?

The comeback itself once seemed unlikely. The series originally appeared set to conclude after three seasons. However, Apple confirmed a fourth season in March 2025.

Now, its record-breaking return could strengthen hopes for an even longer run. Jason Sudeikis has expressed interest in fifth and sixth seasons. Meanwhile, Apple executive Eddy Cue has also indicated enthusiasm for the show’s future.

Apple has not confirmed either season yet. Still, Season 4’s powerful opening gives the company another strong reason to keep Richmond’s story on the pitch.
