Apple is expanding its workforce development efforts in Vietnam as the country takes a larger role in its global supply chain. The company has announced a new Apple Education Center in Hanoi to train employees working for its Vietnamese suppliers.
The initiative builds on Apple’s Supplier Employee Development fund. Apple launched the program in 2022 with an initial investment of $50 million. Since then, the program has trained more than 108,000 supplier employees.
Apple Expands Technical Training
Apple plans to offer more courses directly at supplier facilities. In addition, the new education center will provide dedicated training in partnership with Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). Classes are scheduled to begin in the fall.
Sarah Chandler, Apple’s Vice President of Supply Chain and Environment Innovation, said the expansion will give thousands of workers access to important skills. She also highlighted the potential for greater career development.
Meanwhile, HUST sees the partnership as a way to strengthen Vietnam’s technology workforce. The university plans to work with Apple on training programs aimed at developing high-quality talent for advanced technology fields.
Accessibility Programs Also Grow
Apple is also expanding vocational training for people with disabilities in Vietnam. The existing initiative has reached 49,000 supplier employees across more than 70 facilities. Moreover, it helps companies develop more inclusive working environments.
These programs show that Apple is investing not only in manufacturing capacity but also in workforce skills and workplace development.
Vietnam Gains Importance in Apple Supply Chain
Vietnam has become increasingly important to Apple’s manufacturing network. In 2025, the country gained production of the M5 Apple Vision Pro as Apple shifted that work away from China.
Vietnam is also Apple’s second-largest assembly location for Apple Watch and produces most iPads, according to the document. Furthermore, rumors suggest the country could become a key production base for Apple’s expected Home Hub.
As Apple broadens production in Vietnam, the Hanoi education center could help suppliers build the skilled workforce needed to support that growth. The move also signals a longer-term commitment to Vietnam as Apple continues to diversify its global manufacturing operations.
