The original series follows a society forced to live underground after humanity leaves the surface. Apple based the drama on Howey’s bestselling trilogy, Wool, Shift, and Dust.
Silo Could Expand Beyond Season 4
Apple previously told the show’s creators that Silo would conclude after four seasons. Season 3 returned in July 2026, while the fourth season is expected in summer 2027.
However, a recent online claim suggests Apple may already be considering its next move. The rumored spinoff could reportedly enter pre-production in late 2026. Moreover, it may connect with Howey’s upcoming Silo 40 trilogy, which is expected to begin releasing in 2027.
If accurate, the project could give Apple a way to continue the franchise without extending the main series beyond its planned ending.
Hugh Howey Questions the Rumor
The speculation came from Apple TV enthusiast Sigmund Judge on Threads. Yet the claim quickly faced resistance from the person most closely connected to the source material.
Howey responded that the report was news to him and therefore was “probably not true.” His reaction adds significant uncertainty because any direct connection to Silo 40 would involve material from his expanding book universe.
Still, Judge did not withdraw the claim. Instead, he said he had further evidence suggesting work on the project had started.
Production Clues Keep Speculation Alive
According to Judge, hiring has begun for the alleged spinoff. He also claimed that the main Silo sets remain standing even though production on Season 4 wrapped in March.
Those details may fuel speculation, but they do not confirm a new series. The document provides no official announcement from Apple TV about a Silo spinoff.
