Apple’s new iPhone Duo is showing promising performance, with early benchmark results placing it close to the iPhone 18 Pro.

Despite its slim, foldable design, the device appears capable of delivering flagship-level processing power.

Both smartphones feature Apple’s A20 Pro processor, which helps explain their similar performance.

However, the iPhone Duo faces additional engineering challenges because its folding design limits internal space.

Early Geekbench 7 results suggest these restrictions have not significantly affected its processing capabilities.

Geekbench Results Reveal Close Competition

The first benchmark figures show remarkably similar single-core performance between Apple’s two premium smartphones.

The iPhone Duo achieved 3,986 points, narrowly exceeding the iPhone 18 Pro’s 3,980 points.

However, the six-point difference is too small to establish a meaningful performance advantage.

Single-core performance affects everyday activities such as opening applications, browsing websites, and navigating menus.

Therefore, users can expect both devices to deliver similarly responsive experiences during routine tasks.

Meanwhile, multi-core testing reveals a slightly larger difference between the smartphones.

The iPhone Duo recorded 11,067 points, while the iPhone 18 Pro achieved 11,540 points.

Although the Pro model leads by approximately 4%, both devices remain closely matched.

Foldable Design Raises Cooling Questions

One important difference involves how the smartphones manage heat during demanding tasks.

The iPhone 18 Pro has additional internal space for a larger vapor chamber cooling system.

In contrast, the iPhone Duo must accommodate its folding mechanism within a thinner structure.

Nevertheless, its early benchmark results suggest Apple has maintained strong processing performance.

However, longer testing sessions will be necessary to determine whether sustained performance differs under heavy workloads.

iPhone Duo Outperforms Previous Generation

The foldable smartphone also shows a clear improvement over Apple’s earlier flagship processor.

The iPhone 17 Pro, powered by the A19 Pro chip, recorded 9,909 points in multi-core testing.

By comparison, the iPhone Duo achieved approximately 12% higher performance.

Meanwhile, Apple has already released the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo opened on October 16, with deliveries scheduled to begin October 23.

Ultimately, these preliminary results suggest Apple’s first foldable smartphone could offer premium performance without major compromises.
