EA Soundtracks to hit iTunes

If you're not getting enough of the gaming experience by, you know, actually playing games, you can now load up your iPod with tracks from your favorite Electronic Arts games like Def Jam Icon, SSX 3, Need for Speed Underground 2 and Burnout: Dominator. Because apparently you can never have enough game soundtrack in your life. Okay, I admit it. I have absolutely no clue why anyone would ever want to listen to an EA soundtrack or why they would buy one for their iPod. But if this is the music for you (and, frankly, who am I to judge), the tracks are now available for purchase on iTunes. (At least they are for US iTunes users. Europeans will have to wait a while before joining in on this unique cultural experience.) Pop by the EA Trax site for more details.

Rawk on, Madden NFL 2007!

For what it's worth, this post sounds somewhat ignorant of what is really being offered here.

Recent EA titles that have been part of the EA Trax program use licensed music. It's not standard background gaming music, but normal artists and songs covering a wide range of musical tastes. There's a particular song that I was really interested in purchasing off of the Burnout Revenge soundtrack, and if this feature had been around at the time, it'd have netted the iTunes Store another purchase.

Another example of why this is interesting/useful: There have been a couple of EA-exclusive songs, such as Snoop Dogg's version of Riders On the Storm, which is now available on iTunes thanks to this promotion. Not saying it was the best of songs, but if you were a fan, there was no easy way of acquiring the song until now. :)
