Apple Music Classical is taking another step into the world of classical music. The streaming service has announced a new partnership with London’s famous Wigmore Hall, one of the world’s most respected concert venues. The collaboration celebrates the hall’s 125th anniversary and will give music fans access to exclusive live recordings.

The new program, called Wigmore Hall Live, will feature recordings captured during live performances at the venue. Apple Music Classical will premiere these recordings before they become available elsewhere. Each release will remain exclusive to the platform for three months.

Bringing Live Performances to a Global Audience

Wigmore Hall has built a strong reputation for hosting world-class musicians and intimate performances. Through this partnership, listeners around the world can experience concerts that were once available only to those attending in person.

John Gilhooly, Director of Wigmore Hall, said the venue aims to capture the unique atmosphere of live music. He noted that Apple Music Classical’s advanced audio quality can help recreate that experience for audiences everywhere.

Moreover, the new model offers direct benefits to performers. Wigmore Hall will cover all production costs, while artists will receive all streaming royalties generated from the recordings. This approach helps support musicians while expanding their reach to international listeners.

First Release Features Beethoven Classics

The partnership begins with a recording by acclaimed pianist Boris Giltburg. The first release includes several of Beethoven’s piano sonatas, including Sonatas Nos. 4, 8, 9, 20, and 26. In addition, listeners will hear commentary from Giltburg that provides insight into the music and its interpretation.

A preview of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 9 is already available on Apple Music Classical. The full recording officially launches on June 5, 2026.

A New Chapter for Classical Streaming

The collaboration highlights Apple’s growing investment in classical music. While Apple Music Classical already offers extensive catalogs and listening guides, this initiative introduces original live recordings to the platform. As a result, subscribers will gain access to performances that showcase both renowned artists and one of London’s most historic concert halls.
