Apple releases faster MacBooks

It looks like the rumors were true, as Apple released updated MacBooks earlier today. The white model now comes in a 2.0 GHz ($1,099US) or 2.16 GHz ($1,299US) configuration, and the black 'Book clocks in at 2.16 GHz ($1,499US). All models feature Intel Core 2 Duo processors, 1GB of memory standard and larger hard drives - up to 200GB (The factory hard drive sizes are 80GB, 120GB and 160GB, respectively).

Woo-hoo! New MacBooks!

I purchased my macbook pro less than a month from their release of the new one. This greatly pisses me off. Is there anything I can do? I have called the store and the store online and they basically tell me they can't do nothing. Apparently my spending so much money means nothing to Apple. Yes, I love it, but I hate that I only had it a little over three weeks when they released the new one. I would have waited had I know it.

Ben: Santa Rosa would barely helps the MBP at all, except maybe offer a full 4GB of memory. There is almost no speed advantage. There is a battery consumption advantage at idle, a notebook using the platform uses 8W less when idling, on the test I saw, that was 25% less power.

Where Santa Rosa would have been a bigger help is in the integrated graphics chip.

Santa Rosa and the MacBook?

Please remember that the MB is the consumer model, so it will get those later then the MBP. And as we all know the MPB doesn't have the Santa Rosa. So the consumers should get newer technology before the pro costumers? That would be a ridiculous move, to say the least

The biggest deal is that the SuperDrive is now an 8x dual-layer drive - faster than what's on the 15" MBP.

Where can you compare the high end macbook with the final ppc g4 powerbook? Is it a fair trade?

Personally I think this is a sweet update. Mid-range model gets a faster superdrive, bigger HD, faster processor, for the same money. What's all this Santa Claus talk?
