Tampa Bay, Fla Apple Store planned
The St. Petersburg Times is reporting today that a new Apple Store will be built in Tampa Bay, Florida. Developers have planned an 800,000-square-foot "lifestyle center" (remember when we called them "malls?") that will become the Shops at Wiregrass. Apple is listed as a tenant. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and finish in time for the grand opening in August of 2008. This will be Florida's 15th Apple store (Tampa's 2nd).

Does anyone know if there's a way to tell Apple where you would like a store? For example if I would like a store somewhere in my area, is there any way to tell Apple?

That's awesome, kind of up the street. If you count 2 hours as "up" the street.

It's tough to call that Tampa Bay as the area they are talking about is actually the next county up (way north of the picture on this entry). I was just at that intersection last night, and the area is exploding like wildfire since the new exit on I-75 opened. Anyway I knew they were planning an upscale mall there for years now and hoped Apple would take notice. This is great great news though. I was first in line for the Naples store opening and that's nowhere near me. Considering this is much closer to me than the Tampa store you can bet I'll be pretty far up the line here too. :)

Savannah? Charleston (Mount Pleasant) would be the more logical choice. I could also see one in Greenville, SC or Asheville, NC.

I'd call this less Tampa Bay and more Wesley Chapel. This is going to be on Bruce B. Downs.
The picture is kind of funny because the arrow is pointing to Tampa proper (downtown, really,) and roughly 5 miles from the Tampa Apple store @ International Plaza. Wesley Chapel is about 25 miles away.

I'm at the north end of Tampa and this is still 25 minute drive from here. Hardly Tampa.
