MobileMe update: mail restored to 1% of users, syncing issue resolved
Good old David G., the mysterious author of Apple's MobileMe Status blog, has good news for that unfortunate 1% of MobileMe users who couldn't use their email accounts. All email services, including 'historical messages,' have been restored (it is unclear if this means all messages are back in their right place).Apple has set up a special MobileMe Mail Dedicated Chat Support to help those folks who had email issues sort everything out. If you were one of the chosen few, head on over there to discuss what happened with a friendly, and helpful, Apple support tech.
In addition to resolving the email issue, David G. says that nasty syncing issue (you remember, the one that was wiping people's iPhones of any and all contacts) has been corrected as well. Most MobileMe users didn't see this issue, and for the few that did it seems to have sorted itself out, however, if you're still having this issue check out Apple's KB article for the solution to your syncing woes.
Hey, David G., since it looks like you have MobileMe under control can I report a bug about the MobileMe Status blog? Thanks! There is no way to link directly to a post, like the post I'm talking about right this second, which makes it hard to make sure people see the entry I'm talking about. I'm sure you just forgot to click a button in iWeb or something.

I have been affected by some outage (one lasting over a week), but the chat script automatically terminates my session and replies saying (without letting me actually talk to a person):
"Kirk: I'm sorry, according to our records, you were not one of the members affected by the email outage that began on July 18th. MobileMe Mail 24-hour chat support is a temporary measure designed specifically for users whose accounts were affected by that outage. For help, please visit http://www.apple.com/support/mobileme/ww for access to all of our support resources. I apologize for any inconvenience."

The Status info on the Mobile Me Support page still shows 1% of users with e-mail problems. Apparently there is a problem syncing status reports!

Finally, the System Status is showing 'All MobileMe Services'
are OK.

I wonder when (or if) “Keep me logged in for two weeks” will ever mean anything...

Thats an odd headline -- shouldnt it say "restored to 100% of users"? It makes it sound like only 1% of users have service ...

Hi David G., please also look into Timezone issue. I'm pretty sure a lot of user have this issue (and might not notice it). Check out at Apple support forum here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7750717#7750717

Apple is seriously impossible !
I was affected at the MobileMe launch and according to the support article, I was supposed to get a 30-day extension as I signed up between 11th July to 15th July. However, weeks have passed and my account is not yet credited.

I tried that online support chat.. but i got the same response as above.

I feel lucky to be in the 99% BUT MobileMe is still dysfunctional and very difficult to use from a Linux machine. MobileMe web mail DOES NOT WORK on Firefox 3.0 on Linux (specifically Debian and Ubuntu (which is a flavour of Debian)).
So those machines in the student common room are useless for me when they worked fine up until early July.
Apple need to fix this and fast - or they stand open to being accused of the same sort of proprietary behaviour that their major rival is accused of daily. If MobileMe is supposed to work with Firefox 3.0, it should work with Firefox 3.0 period, no caveats or other special requirements.

Hopefully Apple can scrap this and work their way out of this MobileMess.
But first impressions last.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

For me this is all BS.
I joined in December of 2007, and they lost all my .mac emails since that time.
Gone - disappeared. And they haven't reappeared.
Unacceptable!

Subscribed calenders would be my top priority.

I actually I've just now encountered MORE problems in past 5 hours, and I never had any previously.
This is simply beyond all types of f*cked up on Apple's party.

I think most of us have been part of the lucky 1% - 4% affected by .mac outages in some shape or another way too many times to count. Without ever having access to proper support from Apple - no phone #, only web forms. Phone numbers are readily available for paid for services from other providers I have worked with. I don't see why Apple should be any different.
My family, friends, etc are moving away from .mac as the problems just don't end. And, until they have phone support, I doubt we will return.
