Ask the Readers: iPhone games you can play with your own music?
I have a confession: I like playing games on my iPhone. But I also like listening to my own music. Like chocolate and peanut butter these are two things that should go together. The only problem is that many iPhone games have their own (generally lame) music that stops the iPod app from playing. So for the sake of myself, and others like me, I thought it would be good to get a list of iPhone / iPod touch games which allow you to play while listening to your own music. Unfortunately, I don't have the budget to buy all of the hundreds of games on the iTunes Store for research purposes, so I thought I'd throw it out to the readers. I'll get us started with a couple of my favorites: Enigmo and Moonlight Mahjong Lite (both iTunes links).
What games allow you to play while listening to your own music?

Yes...I've even tested it out to the tune of "Don't Fear The Reaper"...got some strange looks at work, but I had a fever and the only cure was more cowbell!

I've found that while playing a lot of the games I can still squeeze my mic button and my iPod's last played playlist/album starts up. Even for those games that state in their FAQ that personal music can't be played while the game is active.
But it would be nice if that were a default instead of an undocumented feature.

In any iPhone game which has background music, you can override it an play your own song by clicking the button on your iPhone headset once. Because of this, every game can be played with your own music.

Which button? I'm pretty sure that's not the case. Pressing the home button once takes you home, and pressing the sleep/power button once puts it to sleep. Since those are the only two buttons aside from volume, I call BS.

The button on the iPhone's headset, you know, the little microphone one?

Headset? iPhone? Not happening on an iPod touch.
This tip isn't applicable for perhaps half of us.

Pretty sure that in any iPhone game, you can just do the double home button trick to bring up the music applet (if it's set to do that) and start to play your music.
I just start up a game, turn off its sound effects, and then tape twice on my home button to get back to playing my music.....

In most games I've found that if you turn down the sound effects and the ingame music. You can then start your own music using the double tap home button thingy that brings up play/pause controls.
Works in Crash Kart and Super Monkey Ball

I think you can do this with most any app by double-clicking the home button and then pressing play.

Galcon doesn't have music because the dev believes listening to your own music is better than listening to his. It's perfect!
