That touchable sensation: Apple sends invites for January 27 event

This, apparently. Engadget and The Loop are both reporting that they have their emailed invitations in hand for the January 27 introduction of... well, Apple's "latest creation." The invite has a spraypainted look, a time of 10 am Pacific and a place of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts -- and not much else.

Who's ready for something insanely great?

Note
: As several folks have pointed out, there's another major public event on 1/27, in Washington. Reader Nicholas Lohr offered the bon mot that while the President will be delivering the State of the Union in the evening, Steve Jobs will be giving us the Slate of the Union in the morning. Ha!

Guys stop fighting and just respect each others opinions. If someone said they had an Intel Core i7 at 3.86GHz with 8GB of RAM, a 4TB HDD, 1GB Dedicated graphics memory, soundblaster wave card, a 30" screen and ergonomic keyboard and mouse, i'd say good for you - I don't need any of that.

I want something that gets the job done, and curiosity to try a new system is leading me to buy a MacBook (the White model). Am I in the wrong? I'm 18 next month. Am I an arrogant teenager?

I just hope that whatever they show us is a good product and we don't feel letdown. I hope that the tablet if that's what it is, is so good that the industry has to catch up for a few years, but not catch up like they did with the iphone, where they just make crappy copies...

WTF!! you blog about nothing but negativity! Take your crap elswhere! We care less about your usless comments. Let others voice there opinion for once. As for The Big R, good for you! I own 4 Macs & can tell u from xperiance, it's a big investment, but soooo worth it! Good luck with your purchase! I know you'll enjoy it for years to come. Ignore the f'n trolls. They have nothing to do but troll on Apple sites, because winblows ignores them.

It is a mistake to release a large size tablet in my opinion. I know Apple has really wanted to pull this off for a long time, but you have to look at what people are interested in (and the market shows its not tablets). In all honesty, they are just not mobile enough. If Apple wants to succeed, they should pin their efforts on making smaller computers that can function seamlessly just like the larger ones. That's all I have to say about that.

I think the paint being outside of the box says something. Apple is usually very methodical and apologetically neat with their designs, and I believe this is Apple telling us that we/Apple is/should think outside of the box when it comes to our gadget ideas.

Colours are an exact match of the current iPod nano lineup. Exact. Tablet in multiple colours? Me want one.

My guess is that all the ink blots are a clue that this device is going to revolutionize the printing industry. Apple wants to do for magazines, comic books and textbooks, what they did for the music industry.

It will just be the iBrush. A single brush for everything: paintings, teeth, dishes, etc..

Don't worry. If they didn't read you your Miranda Rights, you can't be charged for this crime.

I suspect that you are going to be able to use the new tablet like a Cintiq which would be awesome to the 5th degree
