Make a free Apple-oriented Christmas Creche

If you've got a bit of time on your hands before Christmas (yeah, that could happen), you might want to build a Christmas Creche using a bunch of Apple favorites and pundits to witness the birth of the iPad. Our Dutch friends at One More Thing have put together a free print, cut and glue kit, where you can download all that you need to build your very own version of the Apple nativity scene. If you know your way around a pair of scissors, you can probably construct it in about an hour.

The cast of characters include: Steve Jobs and a segway-riding Steve Wozniak as Joseph and Mary, Jonathan Ive, Tim Cook and Phil Schiller as the shepherds, and three pundits -- David Pogue, Walt Mossberg and John Gruber -- as the three wise men. Interesting choices there. It looks like Pogue is announcing the miracle using FaceTime.

Take a look after the break for a quick video on how it all goes together.

As a Dutchman and long time follower of One More Thing I'm surprised to see this message over here. Maybe it's good to tell you that this is part of an annual charity marathon where the entire country donates money for the Red Cross. For every set up creche, OMT gives 5 euros to the good cause. This years cause are the forgotten victims of HIV/AIDS, the children whose parents died of AIDS and have no future.

Luckily, Christians in my country are not so easily offended and can take a joke when they see one. I actually think it's spot on! Because Christians are resttricting use of condoms and therefore (to me) the biggest cause to the AIDS disaster around world. Please explain to me how you can be a good Christian while people who can be helped are dying and in the meantime you dare to tell me that I can't have a little fun because you are offended by a piece of cardboard?

But offended or not, I wish you all a merry Christmas

As both a Christian and a Mac user, I am not at all offended. I think it is mildly amusing, but what amazes me most is that someone spent the time putting this together.

Um, SaintStryfe, some faith-based people consider such things holy and sacred which, I believe, is still protected in this country by the constitution. It's always open season on Christians...

OMG! You mean the Constitution protects against satire, personal expression and harmless fun?! Thank God!

Oh wait, they're Dutch. Nevermind, our Constitution doesn't apply. Those rascals and their loopholes!

Relax. Just Relax. (RJR)

I feel that many of the regular commenters, here, need an Apple-free Christmas.

I wouldn't call blasphemy cute. I'm just not okay with substituting the birth of Christ with the creation of the iPad.

You're right, it's just not right to compare the creation of such a real and amazing creation as the iPad to the mythical story of a baby being born a couple thousand years ago from a woman who got knocked up by magic.

(I say this in jest of course).
