17″ MacBook Pro Unibody Delivery Delays Reported

Anticipation has been high for the arrival of the new 17″ unibody MacBook Pro, but it appears enthusiasts will need to wait a little longer. Reports received this afternoon indicate that the shipment date has been postponed to February 19, a delay from the initially planned date of February 3.

This news is particularly disappointing for those hoping to use their new MacBook Pro by Valentine’s Day.

Below is the full notification sent to customers:

Dear Valued Apple Customer,

We appreciate your recent order. We are currently finalizing the assembly of the new 17-inch MacBook Pro and it is taking slightly longer than expected.

Consequently, we will not be able to ship your MacBook Pro until February 19, 2009.

If this wait is unacceptable, you are welcome to cancel your order for a full refund by calling our customer service at 800-676-2775 or by checking our online order status at http://www.apple.com/orderstatus.

Should we not receive a cancellation request from you before your MacBook Pro ships, we will assume you have accepted the new delivery date.

You will receive an email with tracking details as soon as your order is dispatched.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you decide to cancel your order. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may cause and value your continued patronage.

Thankfully,

The Apple Online Store Team

Special thanks to those who shared this update.
