Apple has confirmed the opening date for its newly relocated Apple Sainte-Catherine store in downtown Montreal. The upgraded location will officially welcome customers at 10 a.m. local time on Friday, January 16, marking a major milestone for Apple’s retail presence in Canada.

A Bigger Home in a Historic Building

The new Apple Sainte-Catherine store sits at the corner of Sainte-Catherine Street and Rue de la Montagne. Notably, the location occupies a historic downtown building. Compared to the previous store, the new space is significantly larger. As a result, Apple aims to offer customers a more open and immersive retail experience.

Apple first announced plans to move the store in April 2024. At that time, the relocation was expected to finish in early 2025. However, construction and preparation extended into late 2025, leading to the January 2026 opening.

Spotlight on Local Art and Creativity

To celebrate the opening, Apple is placing a strong focus on local culture. The company has partnered with Quebec artist Catherine Potvin, who created a custom Apple logo and store artwork for the launch.

In addition, Apple will host “Meet the Artist” sessions at the new location. These events are scheduled for 11 a.m. on January 16 and 2 p.m. on January 17. During the sessions, attendees will receive an exclusive Apple shopping bag illustrated by Potvin. Apple is also offering her artwork as a free downloadable wallpaper.

More Than Just a Store Opening

Beyond the physical space, Apple plans to highlight Quebec creativity across its digital platforms. Apple Music, Apple TV, and other services will feature local content to coincide with the opening. This approach reflects Apple’s broader strategy of blending retail, community, and creative expression.

Apple Sainte-Catherine takes its name from the iconic Montreal street it has always called home. Importantly, the company notes that this store is unrelated to the Apple Sainte-Catherine location in Bordeaux, France.

What Shoppers Can Expect

Overall, the new store promises more room to explore products, attend Today at Apple sessions, and engage with Apple Specialists. With its central location and expanded layout, the store is expected to become a key destination for Apple users in Montreal.

As opening day approaches, interest continues to build among local customers eager to experience Apple’s newest Canadian retail space.
