Apple will contribute to relief efforts in Venezuela after two powerful earthquakes struck the country’s northern coast this week. The company announced its support as rescue teams continued searching for survivors and helping injured residents.
According to reports, the first earthquake measured 7.2 in magnitude. Less than a minute later, a second and stronger quake measuring 7.5 hit the same region. The back-to-back tremors caused widespread destruction and damaged homes, roads, and public infrastructure.
Authorities say the disaster has killed at least 589 people and injured thousands more. However, officials expect the number of casualties to rise as emergency crews reach heavily affected areas.
Tim Cook Announces Support
Apple CEO Tim Cook shared the company’s response in a post on X, formerly Twitter. He expressed sympathy for the victims and thanked first responders for their efforts.
Cook said that everyone affected by the catastrophic earthquake remains in Apple’s thoughts. He also confirmed that the company would donate to relief operations taking place across the country.
Although Apple did not disclose the amount of its contribution, the company has a long history of providing aid after major disasters.
A Record of Humanitarian Assistance
Apple frequently supports communities facing natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies. In late 2025, the company pledged assistance after Hurricane Melissa struck parts of the Caribbean. One month later, it also contributed to recovery efforts following a deadly high-rise fire in Hong Kong.
Because of this history, many observers expected Apple to respond quickly to the tragedy in Venezuela.
