Apple has finally made watchOS 27 beta 2 available for the Apple Watch Ultra 3. The company released the second developer beta earlier this week, but the newest Apple Watch model was missing from the update list. Two days later, Apple quietly fixed the issue and enabled the software for Ultra 3 users.

The unexpected delay surprised developers because the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is Apple’s latest and most advanced smartwatch. Many expected it to receive the beta update on the same day as other supported devices.

New Features Come to Ultra 3 Users

The latest beta gives developers access to several new features. One of the biggest additions is Apple’s new Siri AI experience, which promises smarter and more helpful interactions. The update also improves Workout Buddy, a feature designed to provide better guidance and motivation during exercise sessions.

Developers can install the software through the Apple Watch app on a paired iPhone. However, the watch must meet several requirements before the installation can begin. It needs a Wi-Fi connection, at least 50% battery life, and it must remain on its charger during the process.

Early Software Still Carries Risks

Although the update brings new features, Apple does not recommend it for everyday users. The software remains in the early stages of testing and may contain bugs, visual glitches, and unfinished features. As a result, developers should avoid installing the beta on devices they rely on daily.

Beta versions often change significantly before their public release. Therefore, users who want a stable experience may prefer to wait.

Public Release Expected in September

Apple plans to release watchOS 27 to all compatible users in September 2026 alongside iOS 27. Until then, developers will continue testing the software and reporting problems to help improve the final version.

For Apple Watch Ultra 3 owners, the latest release finally brings their device in line with the rest of Apple’s current smartwatch lineup and opens the door to testing the company’s newest wearable features.
