Bono, that two-timing slut
So... Bono was in Seattle for a gig and I guess times are tough and hotel rooms are scarce so he had no choice but to crash at Bill's pad. I hear they stayed up all night giggling like school girls and making crank calls to Cupertono. So tell me, Bono... who is your daddy, huh? Don't make Steve angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry.

While it's cool that U2 sells their music on iTMS, Bill and Bono work together on something worthwile: Poverty reduction and combating AIDS in Africa. Does Steve even have a foundation?

"Poverty reduction and combating AIDS in Africa."
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

You're right, giving billions of dollars to cure diseases and hunger is evil, and he should be stopped at all costs.

C'mon, Scott. I'm pretty sure san was joking. I don't think anyone will argue that curing diseases and ending poverty are are not lofty and worthy activities. Hell.. I even do my own small part in those areas when possible.

Laurie, you'd be surprised... There was a fairly recent article on slashdot about the Gates' contributions, and some of the highest rated comments boiled down to what san said. Granted, slashdot's comments scrape the bottom of the intelligence barrel, and most are trolls, but there were enough people who thought it was wrong for them to donate money, blah blah blah.
So whatever, I'm just pissed off that I have to deal with a crapload of ugly Crystal Reports this week.
Back on topic, the thought of Bono chilling on BillG's couch and listening to his ipod makes me giggle.

You need to look further into what the Gates Foundation does. Yes, they are spending money on fighting AIDS. In the meantime, they invest their money in pharmaceutical companies which try to gouge these poor nations with the cost of their drugs.
Seems to me that they should stop investing in these companies unless they drop the prices on these drugs.

Actually, I meant exactly what I wrote. Giving generously to impoverished nations to fight disease and hunger is performed with the noblest intentions; but pumping large amounts of cash and portable goods into these societies often only compounds the problems the aid was intended to solve.
Beyond the scope of my original comment are issues like buying with your own charity funds AIDS drugs sold at unreasonable prices by pharmaceutical companies in which you are heavily invested.
