A 30-year-old delivery worker, Bharat Sahu, lost his life while delivering a brand-new iPhone in Lucknow, India. Sahu, employed by Flipkart, delivered an iPhone worth ₹150,000 ($1,800) to a customer who chose the cash-on-delivery (COD) option.
The buyer, Gajanan, along with his accomplice, Akash, planned to rob Sahu instead of paying for the phone.
A Tragic Crime Unfolds
On September 23, Sahu arrived at Gajanan’s residence in Chinhat. Shashank Singh, a senior police official, explained that Gajanan and Akash strangled Sahu and disposed of his body in the Indira Canal.
When Sahu failed to return home, his family reported him missing. Police traced his call records, which led them to Gajanan and Akash.
Arrests and Investigation
Police quickly arrested the two suspects. During questioning, Akash admitted to the crime but did not explain why they murdered Sahu. The search for Sahu’s body continues as authorities work to recover it.
The iPhone in question was likely an iPhone 16 Pro Max, which costs nearly three times the average monthly wage in India.
This tragic incident underscores the risks delivery workers face, especially when handling high-value items. The investigation remains active as authorities seek justice for Sahu and his family.
