Apple has reached a major milestone in India, generating more than $10 billion in annual sales during the latest fiscal year. The achievement highlights the company’s growing presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone markets. At the same time, India continues to strengthen its role as Apple’s second-largest iPhone manufacturing base after China.

The latest figure surpasses the $9 billion reported in the previous fiscal year. According to the report, the new total covers the 12 months ending in March and represents another year of double-digit growth.

iPhone Leads Strong Consumer Demand

The iPhone remained Apple’s biggest sales driver in India throughout the year. However, demand also increased for other products, including the iPad and Mac. This broader growth suggests that more Indian consumers are joining Apple’s ecosystem rather than purchasing only a single device.

Although India’s revenue still trails larger Apple markets, the progress stands out because of the country’s challenging business environment. Exchange rate fluctuations and local taxes have pushed retail prices above those in the United States. Even so, Apple has continued attracting buyers through financing offers, student discounts, and trade-in programs.

Manufacturing Expansion Supports Growth

Apple’s investment in India extends well beyond retail sales. The company has steadily expanded local manufacturing as part of its strategy to diversify production outside China. India now plays a key role in Apple’s global supply chain while supporting rising domestic demand.

Government incentives have also encouraged Apple’s expansion. Production-linked benefits and tax exemptions have made manufacturing more attractive for the company. In addition, India recently announced further import tax exemptions for components used in products manufactured locally and exported overseas.

India Becomes More Important to Apple

India remains smaller than Apple markets such as China in total revenue. Nevertheless, its rapid growth makes it increasingly valuable to the company’s long-term plans. Rising consumer demand, expanding production, and supportive government policies continue to strengthen Apple’s position in the region.

As Apple broadens both manufacturing and retail operations, India is becoming more than an alternative production hub. Instead, it is evolving into one of the company’s most promising growth markets. If current trends continue, India’s importance to Apple’s global business is likely to increase in the years ahead.
