Why do you hate Firefox so much? I've found that it does display some webpages much better than Safari (and some much worse). I believe that the 1.1 release will fix many of the javascript errors and the "/." bug that people who frequent that site constantly complain about. Personally, I use Safari for most of my browsing, but if the page doesn't show up well (like my bank website) then I use Firefox.

I think it is because she is spoiled with Safari. I think FireFox is great when I am on the PC but would never use it on my mac. I havent ran into a site at all lately that doesnt duisplay fine in Safari.

I agree with No. 1. Why do you hate Firefox? How about a comparison between FF and Safari?
I just switched, loved ff on my pc, and started using it on my mini. Then you say use Safari. I do. I still don't know what I am missing between the two.
Granted, I'm not knocking your preference (it is just that, a preference), but I would love to know your justification, to help me decide which is better.

I like the ability to customize Firefox to suit my needs. Safari just isn't as easy to change or tack programs onto. What else can you skin with Pimpzilla (greatest theme ever) and see bling-bling every time you click a toolbar button?
Besides, not everything is Safari friendly. It's handy to have a second browser on your Mac to view those wily nonconforming pages. And why in the world would anyone willingly use Internet Explorer as that Browser #2?

Meh, I hate firefox too, on mac and PC. But safari is worse, I can't stand it. I tend to use camino just cause it seems the lessers of the three evils.

One word: Adblock. You haven't surfed until you've surfed completely ad free.

Firefox.... well... sucks on mac. It's not a true OSX app. It's UI is slow, sluggish, and it takes a hell of a long time to start.
In my opinion, Mozilla should take Camino's UI, slap firefox on as it's rendering engine and call it a day.

first off......safari just now got a rss reader....i didnt even know what rss was untill i switched to fire fox...close to a 18 months ago...then i learned that people had specific apps to read rss feeds? and i just wondered why....and you have to admit...that was safari's "big" update.
second what is the /. bug.....i know its a rendering issue....but i cant tell the difference. ive used ie, fire fox, and safari...and i cant tell...does anyone have a link with scren shot of the two?
third....i still dont see why safari is so great....firefox works and sans specific guis, looks the smae on all platforms. since i have a linux box that i use for devolpment, a windows box for gaming, and a 15 inch power book for travel...i love that fire fox is the SAME on all platforms....
give me a reason to love safari...im sure i can give you 10 more to love fire fox.

Can Safari RSS do anything similar to Firefox's live bookmark drop-downs? I think they're great, but having to visit a seperate page to view RSS headlines seems counterintuitive to me.

i second the adblock post - i would use safari, i would LIKE to use safari, i tried again when i installed Tiger... and the moment i saw some horrible ad i remembered why i don't use safari.
...okay, i checked out pithhelmet. I'll give it a try and maybe use safari more often if it is as easy to use as adblock. Still, FireFox is a great browser and its extensions make it so much more usable.

I can't say I notice that big of a difference between the two when it comes to rendering and speed. I use Firefox on a Powerbook 667 and a iMac G5. Granted Safari is nice, but I have extensions I can't live w/o. Like Sage RSS reader, PR bar, GreaseMonkey, WebDeveloper and yea themes! Plus the find functionality is greater in Firefox. Granted Firefox is still in the version 1 stage, it's a sweet browser to me and I do LOTS of web browsing.
As long as you are not on IE, use whatever you want.

I like components of both browsers, but the one thing that causes me to primarily use firefox is the "bug me not" extension. I read a lot of national newspapers, most of which require registration, and having the ability to simply ctrl+click, select bug me not, then click and have it automatically fill in a login and password is a HUGE time saver.

I use both Firefox and Safari, but mainly Firefox. Also because of Adblock and bug-me-not, even though adblock sorta breaks flash stuff a bit. Just found out here about Pithhelmet, so will try that. Seems good - until you see an ad it's missing, then it seems to be a pain to add it in.
Still, better than browsing with it!
