The Gizmo Project takes on Skype
The Gizmo Project is a new VoIP/internet telephone offering which promises point, click and talk simplicity with the familiar look and feel of your favorite instant messenger.Available now for Mac and PC, with a Linux client on the way next month, the Gizmo Project does pretty much everything Skype does, with a few more features added for good measure. You get free calls to all Gizmo users, free voicemail and conference calling, and a nice selection of inexpensive add-ons that enable you to make and receive calls from any mobile phone or landline.
I find that I actually use Skype far less than I thought I would, but I plan to take Gizmo for a spin tonight and see how it really compares. If any of you have used it already, please share your thoughts!

I have been using Gizmo now for a few days and have completely stopped using Skype. The winning factor of Gizmo over Skpe for me is the implementation of SIP. With this, after configuring an adapter, I can still receive/make calls while my computer is switched off. just by pluging my existing landline phone into the adapter. This is not posssible with skype.
