Andy's mystery device
The mystery of the secret device has been solved folks, and it was something that I would never have guessed. I am writing, of course, about Andy's secret something that he was to show off at the end of his Keynote, and show it off he did. Thanks to the magic of a company called iGuitar Andy has in his possession, for a limited time only, the iUke. What is the iUke? Why, it is an ukulele with an USB interface for interacting with Garageband. This allows you to strum on an ukulele, pipe it into Garageband and make it sound like a Baby Grand Piano or a harpsichord.
There is only one in existence, and Andy must send it back to iGuitar so they can gear up for the massive demand that is sure to follow.

An iUke isn't far away from an iMandolin... I wonder if it can be restrung to GDAE tuning, if so iGuitar can add one more to the demand count.

That's.... so funny? What kind of keynote was this? He's showing off illegal dvd-mpeg rippers, HUD displays, Ukeleles? What's the point?

Andy used to write for MacUser, Macworld, and various other Mac publications, and was one of the Mac guys in the '90s, along with David Pogue and Guy Kawasaki to name a few.
Currently, he writes the tech column for the Chicago Sun-Times (or at least did when I last checked - I get the Trib).

Mr Andy Ihnatko write in Macworld magazine in the UK (and presumably also the US version) and is blessed with the rare combination of specialist knowledge, perception, vision and most importantly HUMOR! one of the best magazine writers anywhere, he even puts many columnists in The Times to shame.
Gizza Link to any QT movies, please!
PS I work in the Theatre industry in London, thanks to all for the recent supportive comments. :-)

That's SO much better than sounding like a ukelele!
