Widget watch: GPeek

gpeekIn my seemingly unending quest to find the ultimate Dashboard widget, I discovered GPeek. Like several other widgets and utilities, GPeek checks your Gmail account for unread messages. What I like about this particular widget is its interface. Specifically, you get three options (or "flavors" as the author calls them) to choose from. First is "Mini," which simply displays the logo and number of unread messages. Next is "Long," (pictured above), which displays message count plus the name of the account being accessed. Pretty nice, as you can have more than one instance of the widget running at a time, each checking on a different account.

Finally, "Full" displays all of the above plus a summary of each waiting message. Minimal when Dashboard real estate is at a premium, or more informative when you want it to be. Now that's a spiffy widget.

So utterly pointless. Why should I hit a key to open my Deashboard when I have full desktop integration with things like GmailStatus?
