iTunes Music Store Japan sells 1 million songs in 4 days

Despite typical charges of ¥200 to ¥300 per song (US$1.80 and $2.70 as of this writing), the Japanese version of the iTunes Music Store managed to sell 1 million songs in just four days. In response, Steve Jobs issued the following in a formal statement: "iTunes has become Japan’s number one online music store in just four days...iTunes has sold twice as many songs in just four days as all the other online music services in Japan sell in one month." Japanese artists claimed the number one song (Def Tech) and the number one album (Ulfuls).

That's pretty incredible. Congratulations to Apple and the iTunes team.
