Is this iTunes for Windows Mobile?
This appears to be a brief overview of iTunes running on Windows Mobile 5.0. Instead of the iPod-like interface that the ROKR uses, this looks more like iTunes itself. The author of the article notes that it was possible to play 1 GB of MP3/AAC files that were stored on a SD Card with this mobile version of iTunes. Also, searching for a specified podcast feed over GPRS was successful. Looks good. If only this was how the ROKR worked.
First a Windows powered Treo, and now this. It's mass hysteria!

What next-- iTunes for DOS? Seriously, guys, why would Apple target a rapidly declining platform like WinMo?
September 28 2005 at 11:38 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWAY too easy to fake. For example, here you go: iTunes on PSP http://storage.gomorning.com/pspitunes.jpg
September 28 2005 at 2:03 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIf apple ever launch this, I bet they would have a PDA in their labs running some sort of slimmed down version of OSX... please... Vista jokes aside
September 28 2005 at 12:01 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI started looking at it a bit more, it could be a screen shot since well the buttons look like that from OSX not from windows, though I do not know what the buttons would look like on WINMO. At least it looks like the standardized interface of iTunes 5. I think this could be a toss up, I would love to see iTunes on all mobile platforms since it would show Apple branching out but at the same time, you sort of have to wonder if it will actually happen yet.
September 28 2005 at 10:57 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyNickolas, regardless of the fakeness of this particular one, I would expect a WinMo version of iTunes to have the ability to access the Music Store, considering that most PDA's have now wi-fi capabilities. What is the ban you are mentioning? I am able to download from iTMS then copy the music over to my PC or Mac (both authorised on the same iTMS account)
September 28 2005 at 9:34 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyTo further the fake hypothesis, why would iTunes on WinMo have links to the iTMS (the little arrow to the right of the song title). While I suppose it's feasible to download a song via 3G, doing so over GPRS or EDGE would be painful, plus given Apple's ban on transferring content from mobile device back to home library, why would you want to?
September 28 2005 at 9:27 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThere are many existing skins, on a number of Palm mp3 players, that bluntly copy iTunes, and these have been available for *years*. I suspect this photo is just one of them. Among litterally dozens of them (just google [palm "itune skin"]) I propose for instance http://www.pocket-tunes.com/skins/players/iTunes4_v3.shtml If you want, I can publish a photo of my own palm with this skin on the mp3 player, and you'll be able to announce that in a bold move Apple and Palm team together to port iTunes to PalmOS :-)

Does it seem odd to anyone else that there is a second item on thne page programmed in .net framework with an itunes look and feel that is almost identical to this one but obviously made with windows components? Additionally, I've used the program that apple killed (iPoc or PocketPod I think... someone correct me) that emulated the iPod interface, wheel and all, and that has to be the best interface for this application. -Don
September 28 2005 at 8:41 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyGuys I agree this is fake. 1) Do you think Apple would do an iPod like interface for the Moto, and then for Win mobile would do more something like the desktop version of iTunes? Come on, no way, they love doing stuff standardized. 2) I agree on the issue of the buttons, too big for WIn mobile. Also, they would only make sense on Win mobile device with pen input, keyboard only would have trouble navigating this. I have Win mobile 2003 on my HTC handset (Orange C500), and the win media player which i used for listening to music before i got an iPod had only a play button... and u used the arrow buttons of the phone to navigate the playlist... 3) Why would they have separate play/pause buttons on a mobile device: like above said win media player, play/pause can be one button and completely sufficient for that use. 4) I say screw iTunes on phones, i prefer the iPod! I used to like integrated devices but seriously, dedicated devices are much more useful...
