Here's something I haven't seen before. Stanford University are currently offering 69 music tracks and 30 classical concerts for free via the iTunes Music Store [iTunes link]. The tracks include performances by Stanford students, faculty, alumni and guest artists. It's a great idea, and I'd like to see other performance spaces follow suit, from universities to museums to theatres (especially my old school, Berklee College of Music in Boston). Check it out.
Thanks, Asif!

Saw this on Digg Saturday. It takes a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time to download them. But, that does put a few more songs on your iPod.

This is a really good idea. I would love to see the major universities of the US and the world provide similar content on iTunes.

Note also that these tracks are DRM-free! You don't even need an iTMS account to download them.

Stanford University has decided to release content to the general public via the iTunes Music store. From the Stanford press release:
Today, the university will publicly debut a project called Stanford on iTunes, providing Stanford-related audio content via the iTunes Music Store, Apple's popular music jukebox and online music store. Stanford on iTunes will give alumni and the general public free access to a wide range of Stanford-specific digital audio content.
