Photobooth: First impressions
I finally got my brand spankin' new iMac yesterday, and it was well worth the wait. The biggest feature is, of course, Front Row what I will be posting about later today. Front Row isn't the only new application living on my iMac.Photobooth is a simple application that is designed to take photos using the built in iSight, and apply different filters to said photo. MacZealots has a good tutorial on how to use Photobooth (it isn't too hard).
My initial thoughts on Photobooth are as follows:
- It is fun to use
- You can only export the photos to iPhoto or Mail (or use them as your account picture/iChat photo). It would be nice if you could just save them to the desktop
- Did I mention it is fun?
UPDATE: Eagle eyed readers tell you that you can just drag the photos to your desktop. Brilliant! And yes, I go to sad parties.

Actually, you can save the photos to your Desktop simply by dragging them there from PhotoBooth.

Really, Jamie? I tried that and it didn't work! When I get home I'll try it again and if you're right I'll update the post and give you a star.
Thanks!

You definitely can do that I sent the pics of me from the apple store g5 to my powerbook no problem... just do a spotlight search for 'photo' and you'll see all the pics taken

Oh, and by the way, you can just drag the photo from photo booth onto the desktop.

We do something similar for parties, except with video. We do weddings, baby luau's (very big here in Hawaii), and graduation parties.

If you click File > Reveal in Finder, it shows how they are saved in a folder "Photo Booth" in your Pictures folder.
Another titbit: if you have obtained a copy by nefarious means, you might note that it works with any type of USB Webcam. My old Logitech Zoom camera worked immediately. Very thoughtful of Apple!

Is this a 20" iMac? How long did it take to arrive after your ordered it? I've been waiting for them to appear in the Apple store in NYC and they're still not available. In fact, they only had one 17" even on display when I was there last week.

When would we see a photobooth for PowerMac/iSight owners? Similar to Comic-life, this is another really fun program to have!
