No iPod video content? Create your own with the BBC
Now here's something I never thought I'd see. A television network, in this case the BBC, telling viewers to download and edit video from their archives. The BBC have made footage from reports covering some of the most significant news events of the past 50 years available for download. The collapse of the Berlin wall, the soldiers at Tiananmen Square and more...80 news reports in total. "Don't just consume, create!" the network says. The most interesting projects will be featured on the BBC website. So hop to it, and let's see what you come up with!

Sadly, it's not available to folks outside the UK. For legal reasons I'm sure.

Too bad. The U.S. is so mired in copyright and intellectual issues that stifling creativity is the only product so far.

wouldn't it be great to see PBS make all it's archives available for the US? I mean we paid for it, just like the brits paid for BBC .....
it'll never happen though. I mean if you can't make a buck off it, why do it, right?

A bunch of (full) "Frontline" episodes are available on the PBS website, to start. They're actually known for pro-actively offering content online.
Have you even checked their site out, jo jo? And I assume you're sure their budget allows for the massive expense of hosting "all it's archives"?
Because, the last time I checked they were stretched pretty thin. One reason is that they're not actually allowed to "make a buck" as you so keenly suggest.
Your position seems more than a little uninformed.
